About the Event:
Craig Newmark, founder of craigslist, has been credited with creating one of the most influential sites on the internet. But while event listings and classified ads are Craig’s livelihood, non-profit causes are his passion, which is why he has spent the last few years focusing on philanthropic endeavors. He started the Craigslist Foundation and out of that came the Craigslist Foundation Boot Camp, LikeMinded and All for Good. And he’s just added another project to the list with the launch of craigconnects.org which has the humble goal of “connecting the world for common good”.
Craig has kindly offered to spend an evening with GrassrootsCamp to talk about the projects he’s helped create and about craigconnects. He will be sharing his experiences and give some insight in to what craigconnects is and what it will become, and will explore the common thread of all of his projects, which is creating technology tools that build community for a greater purpose. After his talk, we'll have time for Q&A.
We'll be starting the event at 6:30pm, and you're welcome to arrive a couple minutes early to grab a seat. Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes early, as the space we hold events is a coworking space where people, y'know, work. Any questions or comments, please shoot me an email at [email protected]. If you want to beer it forward, paypal to the same email address.
Note: this event was moved from the previous date because of some scheduling conflicts. We hope to be back "on schedule" in the following three months, meeting every few weeks during April, May and June. If you have an idea for a speaker or a topic you'd like to see covered in a GrassrootsCamp, please email me.
