Those of us engaged in labor and community organizing have to wonder: did Egypt really experience a 'Facebook revolution'? What role did social media play in the resistance to Wisconsin Governor Walker's anti-labor legislation? How are unions responding to the real time changes in the organizing environment of today? Libero Della Piana, Communications Director for the People's Weekly World. The runner-up for New California Media's Outstanding Young Journalist Award in 2001, Libero has worked extensively as a journalist and writer. He has been featured in such publications as the San Francisco Chronicle, Colorlines, Black Commentator and the People's World.Libero has also been a longtime member of GrassrootsCamp and Organizing 2.0.
Mike Elk, is a third-generation union organizer and labor journalist based in Washington, D.C. He writes for Harper's Magazine, the American Prospect and In These Times and has appeared as a commentator on CNN, Fox News, and NPR.
Eric Lee, the founder of LabourStart, is one of the premier theorists and practitioners of labor organizing online. He'll be joining us via video. Lee is based in London.
