Hello fellow Ruby Hackers and other programming enthusiasts!
The organizers of Ruby Hack Night are organizing another "Hack Day" which will take place on Saturday September 26th from 10am to 1pm.
The event will be free of charge, and open to everyone. Our topic of the day will be "Effective Testing for Rails Projects". For this event, we will be building a simple Rails application, in a pair-programming environment, as a means to demonstrate effective testing techniques and tools when developing in Rails.
This discussion will be geared towards those who are familiar with Rails and who:
* Have written a simple Rails application but would like to learn more effective ways of testing
* Are interested in testing without Rails' fixtures
* Would like to understand how and when to use mocks and stubs in their application's tests
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own laptop.
Here's a run down of the schedule: 10:00am - 10:30am: Introduction 10:30am - 11:45am: Pair-led testing instruction 11:45am - 12:00pm: Break / Discussion 12:00pm - 1:00pm: Mocking, Stubbing & other testing tools
After the meeting, we will be grabbing lunch at a local restaurant - anyone who is interested is welcome to come along.
