This meetup is about prototyping a play mechanic and thinking through the logic behind a complex idea to try to solve issues that can arise when you are programming a game.
At the last meetup we decided to take a stab at figuring out how to create a clue style game that has a more complex system of figuring out who actually committed the crime. This is the problem we will be tackling at this meetup.
If you have any playing cards or dice please bring them, we will need to have quite a few options for figuring out how the system will work and some elements will need to be figured out randomly.
We will start with a simple group of variables and once we figure out a good system we will expand it a few times to see if we run into scaling issues and develop a logic system that can be directly translated into programming concepts, while testing the system on paper.
After we work out the system we will work on developing a system to make it an actual playable game with pen and paper and try to play the game together. This might take a few meetups to get done but should be a great exercise and it a good introduction to programming concepts.
Again if you need to contact me about the meetup or if you are running late you can call me at 630-995-1938.
