Hacknight Changes & Upgrades!

We're making a couple significant changes to Hacknight starting in April. First, we're changing the date. Hacknight will now be held the second Thursday of each month, instead of the second Wednesday. Making this change will allow us to reserve the back area of Cosi which has outlets, a large table, and is somewhat secluded from the rest of the cafe. Fortunately this is free of charge, which is awesome of Cosi. Their only stipulation is that we purchase something to eat or drink.

In an effort to give people an opportunity to share their knowledge on various Ruby topics we've decided to include a casual group discussion as part of the Hacknight format. We felt that it would be a good way to make use of our newly reserved space and also help to build a sense of community among Hacknight attendees. We also wanted to be sure we didn't take the "hack" out of Hacknight so feel free to join in the discussion if you're interested. Otherwise, come by for the usual shop talk and general hackery that makes Hacknight so awesome.

The first topic we'll try out is:

Refactoring, Ruby Edition: Chapter 6, Composing Methods

This chapter covers method composition refactorings and is something we find ourselves using everyday. Don't worry if you don't have the book or don't want to buy a copy. We'll have a copy and we can take a look at some of the details during our discussion.

Please send us your ideas for future topics!

Hope to see you there,
Justin & Matt
