This will be a session based upon practical solutions and not a best practices or text book view of indexing. Some of the areas covered will include: - Why we index - Curse of the null - Size does matter - Indexed views - Filtered indexes (SQL 2008) - Sparse data and compression (SQL 2008) Tim Leung will also be presenting a session on various SQL tips and tricks. BIO: Colin has 18 years of database experience and has worked with SQL Server since v6.0. He began with a development background and has now worked as a production DBA for around 12 years. He tends to specialise in performance tuning and optimisation, as well as the usual code and index tuning.
