Update 1/3/2011 : If you're not going or can't make the Cambridge Startup Weekend event, then you're still welcome to attend the CAMDUG event and hear what our members are going to pitching at the Startup Weekend. The evening promises to be interesting, with some fake Dragon's Den and Sir Alan Sugar antics! Come along and share in some fun, listen to pitching practices, some serious, and some not so serious, with altnet beers style debate and discussion at the pub afterwards.

Hi all

Startup weekend is coming to Cambridge! W00t!

Pizza and beer is being sponsored by The Agile Workshop and Snowcode

Wouldnt it be totally wicked if we ended up with a CAMDUG team working together that got funding 4 a cool creative startup? If you're going and you have A BRILLIANT STARTUP IDEA, you'll need a solid elevator pitch! Come to CAMDUG and prepare your pitch in advance with seasoned tech savvy entrpereneurs.

@Digbyj has generously allowed CAMDUG to distribute a discount code DEVPR, to get £25 off your ticket ( Thanks Digsby!)

Preperation, preperation,  preperation -> you'll have a head start over the rest of the competition by preparing  a well oiled tested elevator pitch.

Whether you're going to Startup Weekend or not, if you'd like to hook up with us for a dinner and drinks at Tudor Rose, and talk startup geek talk, then RSVP to this meetup. * Don't forget to still get your ticket from Startup weekend!

If you have not yet RSVP'd for Startup weekend, then head over right now to the Startup Weekend website and grab a ticket before they're gone! ( he he, cheesy plug! But deffo worth it.)

We are fortunate to have a panel of "seasoned dragon's" that candidates will be pitching to on Wednesday evening, and (in no particular order) they are:

  • Dragon Stephen Oakman
    (epitath still to be provided)

  • Dragon Mark Dalgarno
Feisty Scot @markdalgarno is the voice of common-sense on the panel. He'll be looking for solid answers to tough questions like "Why should I buy this?", "How much will it cost?" and "Do you take cash?".

  • Dragon Ronnie Barker
..behind this name is an astute brain that is constantly crafting solutions to clients?' software problems. It is one that's been taking things apart and rebuilding them for different companies with different sets of needs for almost 15 years.

  • Dragon Justin Brister
Justin is Founder / CTO of cloudcode.co.uk a SaaS product development company and Co-founder / CTO of stoneburn.com a cloud system integrator.

  • Dragon Alan Hemmings
"... Show me the money and...where's the beer?" Lean Agile/Scrum/KanBan/Advocate coach, scrummaster, software contractor and MIA, Micro Angel Investor, also Snowcode founder.

Here is an extract from the Startup Weekend website:

"...Startup Weekend is an intense 54 hour event which focuses on building a web or mobile application which could form the basis of a credible business over the course of a weekend. The weekend brings together people with different skillsets - primarily software developers, graphic & web designers and business people - to build applications and develop a commercial case around them."
