Black Marble is demonstrating how small efficiencies can add up to big savings through the Microsoft family of collaboration tools. We are running a series of knowledge workshops for ICT managers to show how effective deployment of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server and related technologies can energise staff in all areas.

From low-risk, high impact solutions intended to save a few minutes each time someone performs a certain task, to larger process automation projects designed to streamline processes, SharePoint is a key efficiency tool. In addition, the software’s ability to host discussions and questionnaires can help staff at all levels of the organisation engage with major initiatives.

“Many organisations focus on large projects such as scorecards. By doing so, they overlook the opportunity to make small savings that collectively amount to huge improvements in efficiency and give much greater value to the organisation.”

Robert Hogg, Managing Director, Black Marble

That doesn’t mean there is no place for larger initiatives, however: “What we see with SharePoint in an organisation is a steady growth of the features it provides.” Robert continues “Very quickly, SharePoint becomes the central hub of information through the use of key aspects like Search. As the organisation becomes more comfortable with the software, that’s when we advise them to tackle the more complex business solutions as the risk of failure is much lower.”

During the knowledge workshops, Black Marble will relate SharePoint to real organisational issues and demonstrate how the system can directly benefit your organisation. Drawing on experience, crucial advice will be given on how to ensure the success of a SharePoint deployment and put in place the policies to manage the solution over time.

The workshops includes a round table discussion during lunch, where attendees can ask direct questions about how SharePoint might solve specific issues that they face.

    29km away in Manchester

While it finds its feet this meetup will follow the same informal format, of creatives meeting up at The Northern for a drink and meeting new like minded creatives. These networking talks will then hopefully lead to some great work and partnerships. I'm looking at moving Northern Digitals on little with the addition of guest talks by people from different creative fields. More news on this to come, when I've found a venue etc. Any recommendations on this would be great.
