In this global economic crisis people really are looking to Free and Open Source solutions and Joomla in particular as a shining light as a brilliant FOSS CMS with very deep community and commercial support. The Joomla Day event will be a showcase of the benefits of Joomla for those new to Joomla, those already developing Joomla and those interested in using Joomla to improve their business processes.

We've been waiting a while for the first Joomla Day in Brisbane. It will be a great day!

The Joomla Day will be from 9.00am - 5.00pm at the Southbank Institute of Technology.

The event will have three streams, an Intro to Joomla, A developer friendly stream and a stream for those using and evaluating Joomla for their business.

Opening Keynote: "Why it makes sense to use Joomla in the global economic crisis" Speaker: Sam Higgins, Longhaus

Closing Keynote: "Joomla a Queensland Success story!" Paul Russell, Director of Enabling Technologies, Department of Tourism, Regional Development and Industry

[u] Developer Stream[/u] Harvey Bothers Practical Templating: The principles behind taking a graphic design and turning it into a Joomla Template.

Andrew Eddie - Joomla Core Team member and Joomla Lead Developer Undocumented Features: An overview of many interesting but little known features in Joomla.

Sam Moffatt - Joomla Core Team member Defending against the hackers and crackers.

Arjen Lentz - Open Query Owner A introduction to what every site master should know about their Joomla database.

Business Stream Brett Hooker - Roarz Computing Director 30 Business Websites Sites in 30 Minutes Discover how 30 different local businesses have configured Joomla! to get the results they need.

Damian Hickey - ZacWare Founder and Director Enterprise class extensions for Joomla using a case study of Prime TV's hyperlocal strategy.
