OK, guys so we got to thinking about what the next AWESOME meetup was going to be all about and recently we had heard about this cool new experience called Dining in the Dark. Check out a great article about it here. We were unsure if there were any places that did this in Houston and since we do a lot of meetups that revolve around eating out already, we thought we would try eating in this time in the dark. This is a different type of meetup in that there will only be so many spots open, and everyone who RSVPs will be involved in the meal preparation. The idea behind this is for each person who attends to make a dish (this includes each person in a couple as well) and bring it to the meetup for everyone to try. After we receive the RSVPs we will assign at random either an appetizer, side dish, entrée, or dessert that each person will prepare. The dish itself is up to you, but if you read the article you will get an idea of what types of food are good for eating in the dark. Portions should be small enough to be eaten on a paper plate or in a cup (as in soup) and you must provide enough for the entire group which is why this meetup will have a limit on the number of attendees. Have no fear if you do not get a spot however, because if this is a success then we will do another one of these very soon for those of you that missed out. If you cant cook or are scared to, no worries! It seems like even the simplest of dishes take on a whole new flavor in the dark, so these dishes can be quite simple, or even semi-homemade using store bought ingredients. We also would like to do an awesome spin on dining in the dark by rating each dish, not so much on the quality of each dish, but how well they fared in the dark. Before eating, each person will be assigned a random number so no one (but Mandy and Me) will know who prepared what! Get those RSVPs in quickly, you will only have 1 week from today to sign up. When all of the RSVPs are in you will receive a note regarding which type of dish you are to prepare and of course we will take into account any allergies you may have, or any specialties that people might want to make! Hope everyone likes this idea and it prepared to try a whole new experience (for a lot cheaper, too).
P.S. You do not have to be a couple to RSVP for this, singles are always welcome!!!
