Tim Cummings: Apple WebObjects and Project Wonder - Spring Hill, Australia

Apple's WebObjects (essentially free/open source) and Project Wonder (free/open source) are collections of Java frameworks which provide html templating (similar to Tapestry) database abstraction (similar to Hibernate or Cayenne), and a deployment environment. You can choose to use all of these features or just the one's you want. Development uses the Eclipse IDE with the WOLips plug in. Apple's licence says their software is free for deployment anywhere (Mac, Linux, Windows etc)

VertX.io is the async layer running on the JVM that is going head to head with nodejs. Angular is one of a number of Javascript binding frameworks that for most apps, Richard thinks wins out. HAL is Mark?s way of saying he doesn?t care about the client side, the server supports serendipitous reuse.

Crafty is a JavaScript game engine based on the Entity Component system and with jQuery like syntax. It automatically optimizes drawing on canvas and supports DOM for cross browser support (even IE6). The talk will include how Crafty optimizes canvas drawing as well as utilizing the entity component system to easily and quickly make games.Louis Stowasser is a third-year student at UQ studying IT and majoring in Information Systems (databases).
