tracking users active or inactive in jsp

  Hi all,

          i want to know how to track whether the user is active or inactive in a jsp application.Also if two users are accessing the website i should be able to list those users and if one of the users browser crashes i should be able to check  whether he is active or not.  i.e  needed to display active users only.
