The amount of digital information online is growing at a rapid pace, and is expected to hit some 25 zettabytes in 2020. The goal of most SEO is increased visibility, but in a web filled with noise due to massive amounts of information, this can be a difficult task for even the most skilled SEO if they're utilizing traditional SEO techniques. Google, Yahoo! and Facebook (to name a few) realize this challenge and are promoting semantic markup to improve search results and more easily index key data. Realizing these trends, SEOs and developers should join forces to build a strong web of data that is more easily navigated and understood by machines, while retaining the rich visual experiences we humans have grown accustomed to.
At this meetup, we will cover some of the basics of "front-end" Semantic Web, from markup and content techniques to popular vocabularies. We'll explore basic examples and their outputs and impacts. We'll also take a look at how SEOs and devs can expand their roles and become curators of a very rich web of data. ==============================================================
