What can you do with Flash Media Server? Brief overview of what projects are possible with FMS
Why wouldn't I just use a traditional web server? A lot of the projects I mention above will be possible with conventional technologies. Here I'll explain the difference FMS makes.
How FMS is differs from a web server. This is where I'll get into how FMS functions at the network layer in contrast to a Web Server. RTMP vs HTTP.
FMS for Video. I'd like to focus on the areas where FMS adds functionality to video delivery. I'll discuss features like live video, DVR capabilities, and live interactive video (read video conferencing). I'll also discuss Video on Demand how it differs from Progressive Download video and why you would/should use one over the other from user's and admin's perspective. Finally I'll discuss smooth streaming, and why a user shouldn't have to see a "buffering" screen in the 21st century. Might be able to provide a demo here.
FMS for Interactive Apps I don't have much experience here but I could discuss how FMS makes low latency real-time apps over the web possible. Perhaps a Demo.
Real World FMS This is where I discuss some of the harsh realities I came to learn while implementing FMS, and how to mitigate or avoid them. I'll discuss bandwidth management, getting through your customers corp. firewalls, what a CDN is, and what to look for in purchasing one.
The Elephant in the Room I'll talk about the future of FMS. iOS and mobile support, HTML 5, alternatives to FMS, and why FMS is still a good option.
