Hello, hello! It's meetup time again and I'm pleased to announce the topics for our next event on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at Hearsay Social in San Francisco.

Roger Hu, senior software engineer at Hearsay Social, will share his experience of migrating Hearsay's tests over from Selenium 1 to Selenium 2. I know many of you have given thought to doing this, so come out to hear lessons learned along the way and the benefits they've found in doing so, including huge performance gains and an easier time training developers to use it.

Wenhua Wang, software QA engineer at Marin Software, will follow this talk with a presentation on improving your deploy process. Wenhua simplified the tedious deployment work at his company by running only one command, which greatly benefits their daily software development and testing work. In this presentation, he will present how he designed and implemented an automated deploy management tool for Marin.

Both presentations will be followed by a Q&A.

Thanks to our friends at Hearsay Social for hosting this meetup! See you then!

Roger Hu is a Software Engineer at Hearsay Social, a company that focuses on enabling global brands to leverage social media through their local connections.   He's spent this past year implementing Selenium in the company's continuous build process and helped lead the effort to migrate from Selenium v1 to v2.   In the process, he's contributed a few patches to the Selenium v2 project and documented many of the quirks that relate to the underlying architecture of Selenium 2.    He hopes to share some of the insights he learned with others in the hopes that it will give other developers a deeper appreciation of how Selenium v2 is built and help bypass some of the issues they may encounter when making the transition.

Wenhua Wang works as a software quality assurance engineer at Marin Software company. He implements new automation tests and maintains legacy automation testing scripts. Except for the automation regression testing, he also designs and implements automation testing for special cases, like monitoring memory leaking caused by Flash/Flex usage in IE, and measuring web application robustness with huge access traffic.

Before joining Marin Software company, he worked as an research assistant/associate in the university. In 2009, he presented his prototype tool, "A Navigation Graph Builder for Dynamic Web Applications" in the International Conference on Computer Intelligence and Software Engineering. In Dec. 2011, he will go to the International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Software Engineering again to present his new tool, “Zoomer: An Automated Web Application Change Localization Tool”.
