This month we will take a look at product backlogs.
We will cover the following ground;
- What is a backlog
- What goes into a backlog
- Sizing backlogs
- Readying backlogs for sprints
- Augmenting backlogs with techniques such as story maps and other things
- Queuing theory and how it underpins the backlog idea
- Dealing with multiple backlogs
- Challenges we face when managing backlogs (eg absent customer, not paying attention to capacity, poorly formed backlog items, lack of acceptance criteria, not focusing on value and so on)
This will be a facilitated discussion format. I'll lead some of the discussion but would like some assistance and wouldn't mind a couple of other older hands helping out (or even taking over.)
You bring your frustrations and war stories.
The target audience is for people who have started with scrum and have questions about how to improve the way they manage their backlogs.
Beginners are also welcome, and will be able to take advice on how to start a backlog.
You don't need to be using scrum to make use of this topic, but it is aimed at the backlog in the context of the scrum framework.
