We have a pretty ambitious agenda for this months meeting.
Synopsis:
[]Install Fest []Tools & Utilities w/Paul
iSCSI SAN w/Chris
Details:
This month we're going to spend some time helping members of the Intro group with any hardware or configuration issues they might be having with their Ubuntu GNU/Linux rigs. If you're having any connectivity, graphics or peripheral device challenges in your install please bring your rig in and we'll see if we can't get you past them. Free of course.
Afterwards, Paul will briefly show us a few tools and/or utilities he's been using (pretty cool stuff).
Not all organizations can afford to build a storage-area network. Don't discount a SAN so easily: With the advent of iSCSI, storage networks are becoming more affordable for organizations of all sizes. You won't get all the benefits of a high-end Fibre Channel SAN with iSCSI, but you will have the immediate advantage of remote, centralized storage.
Chris Williams will demonstrate how he uses GNU/Linux and the iSCSI protocol to make his SAN volume appear as a local drive to any number of machines using plain old Ethernet for transport. Nice. :)
We'll also have our regularly-scheduled after-meetup Denny's dining experience for all who wish to join us! Please mark your calendars, RSVP, and plan to attend!
