PROGRAMME

KEYNOTE: STRATEGIC DESIGN & RESPONSIBILITY TRAPS - ERIC EVANS Eric EvansEric Evans: As software development leaders, we need to think more strategically. Some design decisions affect the trajectory of the whole project or even the organization. These decisions arise in early chartering and throughout development, and they are about much more than architecture. This talk will examine these issues through the lens of the Strategic Design principles of domain-driven design more...

CONTEXT MAPPING IN ACTION - ALBERTO BRANDOLINI Alberto Brandolini will talk about Context Mapping in Action. In this session we’ll see how Context Mapping applies in real development scenarios, and how the outcome of this technique may help us in taking strategic decisions beyond even if we’re not doing DDD by-the-book.

REBUILDING GUARDIAN.CO.UK WITH DDD - PHIL WILLS Phil Wills will do a talk on rebuilding the guardian.co.uk website with DDD. guardian.co.uk is the three times winner of the Webby for best newspaper on the web and the UK's most popular newspaper website, with over 220 million page impressions a month. Over the past three years the platform driving the site has been almost completely rebuilt, by a team that at its peak numbered 104, with the principles of DDD at the heart of the design.

DDD IN A DISTRIBUTED WORLD - GOJKO ADZIC Highly distributed applications are rarely examples of sophisticated domain design, often ending up with an anemic domain and business logic stored exclusively in services. In this talk, Gojko Adzic presents practical advise how to harness the power of DDD in a distributed environment to produce software that runs faster, scales better and evolves easier.

EXPLORING DOMAINS AND COLLABORATING WITH DOMAIN EXPERTS - DAN HAYWOOD Exploration and experimentation are essential in DDD. Rather than stopping the moment we get one useful model, we should look for alternatives that might reveal a deeper insight. In this talk Dan Haywood will show how Naked Objects is being used in a development process that involves the domain experts from the outset. Along the way he'll bring in examples from a large-scale DDD system in Ireland that was built (and continues to be developed) using Naked Objects.
