Anatomy of a Silverlight Line of Business Application

Curious about using Silverlight in a LOB application? Wonder if it's the right fit for you or just the gateway to endless pain and suffering? In this session, we go beyond the demo-ware and hyperbole to demonstrate how an actual team built an actual production application using Silverlight. See the evolution of our app including our architecture and toolkit. We'll cover object transport between the client and server, and why we disagree with Microsoft about the whole process. Explore our strategies for validation and error handling. Discover how we separate the View and the Model. Share our experiences and learn what we know now that we wish we knew then.

Michael Henderson Michael leads an agile development team at Thomson Reuters where he focuses on building cutting-edge tax applications using Silverlight, NHibernate, and lots of unit tests. Before Thomson, Michael worked for several years as a consultant at the leading agency frogdesign. Once upon a time, he programmed in Lotus Notes.
