The Central Florida Web Developers User Group presents a Free ColdFusion, ColdFusion Builder and ColdBox Framework Crash Training Bring Your Own Laptop Lab on Saturday, May 8th 2010 at 10:00 AM.
Join the Central Florida Web Developers User Group in a day of free training covering the building of a enterprise-quality application using ColdFusion (CFML/CFScript), ColdFusion Builder, mySQL and the ColdBox Framework.
A brief agenda:
Participants will build a maintainable, scalable and elegant application using ColdFusion, ColdFusion Builder, mySQL and the ColdBox Framework. Specific items include:
- Install and integrate ColdFusion, mySQL, ColdFusion Builder and ColdBox Framework.
- Use ColdFusion Builder and other Eclipse plug-ins to improve focus and productivity and learn some tips and tricks for the IDE and plug-ins.
- Gain an understanding of a Model-View-Controller MVC pattern.
- Learn and use the ColdBox framework and understand its organization and the powerful ColdBox toolkit.
- Build an object-oriented model-layer using design patterns (such as the decorator pattern) to improve code re-usability and code quality.
- Integrate the model-layer with the frameworks event handlers and interceptors and
- Integrate Ajax calls into the framework.
- Easily manage and organize all the assets required to make a quality application including batching and minifying JavaScript and CSS. Also, learn how to eaisly include only the JavaScript and CSS required for a specific request.
- Much more. We are a dynamic group and the conversation and topic will shift to cover the needs and questions of those who attend.
What you will need:
- A laptop capable of running applications such as ColdFusion, mySQL and ColdFusion Builder.
- The desire to learn. We want to cover a lot of ground.
- The ability to eat pizza for lunch, drink soda or water and have fun.

Everyone is welcome to attend. This is a free event. Some people who may be specially interested include anyone who
- is interested in improving their Web development skills.
- is somewhat proficient in ColdFusion (CFML) and would like to improve their skills.
- who doubts the capability of ColdFusion and its ability to rapidly develop secure, full feature, enterprise ready applications---fast, fast and faster.
- who would like to improve or learn object-oriented (OO) skills and the benefits of programming in an OO style.
When
Saturday, May 8th 2010 at 10:00 AM and is expected to end at 5:00 PM. Please arrive at 9:30 AM to prepare your workstation and download assets.
