Update #4 (9 February, 2011):

Hi Guys, So sorry to inform you that Mr. Bernhard Kappe have cancelled his talk due to an emergency.

Wed, Feb 9, 2011 at 7:43 PM

Hi Brian,

I hate to do this to you, but I have an emergency back in the US that necessitates my flying back tomorrow Afternoon.  I apologize for the inconvenience this will cause you.  As an organizer, I know how hard it is to keep a group thriving, and having a speaker cancel at the last minute does not help.

I did see that you had a second speaker signed up for the meeting, so hopefully that will cover.

Thanks for your understanding - I owe you a favor (or two)

Bernhard Kappe

Hopefully we can still invite Bernhard to talk here in future sessions.

We do have Mr. Adam Penberthy to tell us about his startups: thinkfresh.net.au & thethumbfactory.com.au

Adam will also give us a glimpse of his efforts on floodaid.com.au

Update #3 (4 February, 2011):

Introduction to the Lean Startup: Reducing Risk and Time to Market

9 out of 10 startups fail. Steve Blank, a veteran of 8 startups and professor of entrepreneurship at Berkley and Stanford said “Startups don’t fail because they lack a product; they fail because they lack customers and a profitable business model.” Because of this problem, Steve created a risk reduction methodology for startups called Customer Development, which is core to the Lean Startup movement that is revolutionizing how startups work in the US.

Bernhard Kappe, Founder and CEO of Pathfinder Development and leader of the Chicago Lean Startup Circle, will walk through the customer development process and orovide you with a framework you can use to speed up your journey toward problem/solution fit. Join us and learn how you can reduce the risk of failure and gain traction sooner for your startup.
