The popular Zend Framework presents Web developers with a powerful PHP-based solution for creating and managing Web sites. In this three hour workshop attendees will gain valuable insight into the Zend Framework by following along with the creation of a simple blogging platform. Topics covered include:

  • MVC Framework concepts
  • Creating and configuring a Zend Framework-powered project
  • Managing configuration data and the project lifecycle
  • Creating and managing design templates
  • Processing and validating form data
  • Interacting with the database using the Zend Framework’s powerful Zend_Db component
  • Creating and managing user accounts
  • Taking advantage of Zend Framework components to extend your Web site

To participate in this workshop, participants are strongly encouraged to bring a laptop installed with the following software:

  • PHP 5.2.4 or newer
  • MySQL 4.1 or newer
  • A Web server, preferably a recent version of Apache
  • Your favorite code editor

To get the most out of the workshop, it is strongly recommended that attendees possess a basic understanding of the PHP and SQL languages.
