Get ready for our quarterly meetups where iOS adopters come together to learn, network, and enhance their relationship with the premiere mobile platform by Apple. With having sold over 100,000,000 iOS devices, Apple has proven that their platform is not only revolutionary but highly desired and profitable. The iOS platform cannot be ignored. So come join your fellow iOS community members to share and learn about how to best develop and design both native and web apps for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.

Every quarter we get together to review the latest in iOS news, apps, jobs, and best practices. Come to learn; come to network; come to promote your latest app!

Agenda & Topics
Feel free to suggest or volunteer to present a topic. Speakers who would like to demo their apps, demo their favorite must-have apps, and how-to presentations related to the iOS platform.

  • iOS News, Jobs, Sponsors, and Announcements - We will cover the latest in official iOS news from Apple and share announcements like jobs and other related news from our user group. If you are interested in sharing a promotion for your app or are looking for talent come prepared to talk to the group (and be sure to bring related print-outs and/or business cards).
  • Additional presentations TBD
  • Come show off your iPad 2 - with the iPad 2 being able to offer video mirroring, demoing apps should be much easier. Come show off your awesome new iPad 2 if you bought one.
  • Lightning Talk - "Pragma marks" allow developers to add special comments in their code that make code organization easier to separate and find portions of code. If your *.m files seem like long running paragraphs then this is the lightning talk for you!
  • Must-Have Apps - Do you use an app that is just awesome and think everyone will like to hear about it? Take a minute and share your favorite apps used for work, home, or play. We should have time for 2-4 people to present their must-have iOS apps. Leave a comment if you have an app you wish to demo.
  • Networking & Breakout Groups - We leave time at the end for members to network and also can provide some tables for breakout groups so members can talk and share more after the presentations. Breakout groups topics come from member requests; some example group topics are Building Your First App, Interface Design, Upgrading Apps, Monetization, API Integration, Building Universal Apps, and the like.
  • Raffle Prizes - Before the end we will have some raffle prizes. Each attendee gets a chance to win at every meetup!

Attendees Please Note
The building security is strict and every attendee is required to come in through the front lobby to get your visitor badge. Members who do not RSVP or provide their real names may experience delays versus those who are able to provide their info ahead of time.

Travel & Parking
The venue is close to major freeways and public transportation either by bus or by commuter rail (the Red Line connection is Pershing Square; Blue Line connection is 7th & Wilshire). The venue is on the corner of 5th and Flower St. in Downtown Los Angeles. There is very little on-street parking but there is paid covered parking structure on 4th & Flower that costs up to $15 for the night. The first 30 people to RSVP (with their real names) and show up are able to get free parking vouchers. To qualify for free parking, you must sign up by RSVP-ing "Yes" and provide your real name for building security check-in. Those who RSVP or arrive late will experience delays with security before being allowed up to the meeting floor. Who Should Attend?
Definitely developer and designers of mobile apps. But these meetups are not only geared towards programmers; we are joined by users, designers, marketing, and biz-dev folk as well. All of us have a hand in how apps are designed, built, and promoted. If you are hiring or want to be hired this is the right event to attend.

About the L.A. & O.C. iOS Meetup User Group
We are a professional technology user group focused on the Apple iOS platform (formerly iPhone OS). With the success and adoption of over 100,000,000 iOS devices more platform resources and support are needed to grow a strong and agile community. Through live meetups members get the chance to to network, learn, and share how best to work with the platform. A lot of people take pride in their work and we take pride in being their community.

The user group was founded by Chris Charlton, an technology author and local community leader.
