Topic

The Past, Present, and Future of Microsoft: what do the recent announcements mean for the future of development on Windows the platform?

Come join your fellow software developers for a structured group discussion about the many issues facing the Microsoft software development ecosystem.  In a friendly group-interaction context, we'll try to collectively dig deep into the following issues and more:

  • Is .NET at a dead-end?
  • Is the 'equalizing' of language choices (C#/VB, C++, HTML/js) and access to the WinRT API for Win8 good or bad for .NET developers?
  • Does Microsoft's recent increase in consumer-oriented focus bode ill for the enterprise space?
  • What is the future of the WP7 platform?
  • What's missing in Microsoft's cloud strategy that prevents people moving apps to Azure?

Come and share your thoughts on these and more topics with your fellow software engineers in an open, frank, and (hopefully) interesting discussion about the future of the Microsoft platform in a rapidly-changing world!

This meeting will be held at the Microsoft offices as usual. Check the Meetup site for details!
