Monthly discussion group on MySQL, and open source projects in general. In March we'll have Rich Kelm answering the age old question of "When to adopt a Sphinx (for Search)"
This presentation will provide a general overview of the basics in terms of the Sphinx search engine; in other-words, how one cares for and feeds it (documents). Not to mention, we will go over the unique characteristics of this search beast and what separates it from Full-Text search stand-ins such as MySQL. Then we launch a little deeper into the differences between MySQL's Full-Text Search and Sphinx's, and in what situations it would prove advantageous to adopt a Sphinx.
As always, you're welcome to bring questions and problems.
Sphinx will be providing beer and snacks!
