Nick Selvaggio will be presenting on Drupal. Drupal is a PHP based CMS. Nick will show us the core concepts behind this fascinating Content Management System.

About Drupal

Drupal is a community developed, open source content management system. It is developed in PHP and supports multiple database backends (mostly MySQL). Drupal powers many large web properties today such as the Grammy’s, WhiteHouse.gov, and the Economist. It is fully modular and sports a lean core, leaving out many of the features you may expect from a CMS out of the box. Instead the Drupal ecosystem contains 14K+ community developed modules for various purposes and exposes a clean API for extending the system.

In Nick’s talk he will be introducing the group to the core concepts of Drupal and its community. He will run through some basic functionality of the system and if time permits dive into a little bit of code. He is also interested in learning from .NET developers about their views of Drupal and if there is anything we can learn from each other to improve our respected platforms.
