Engaging people with a new process ? helping them to understand what it will mean for them

Are you introducing change in an organization?  Are you working with a team ?going agile?? Early on, people are trying to figure out how it will impact them in their role and if they have the skills required. Just as importantly, they also need to know the mechanics of the process including what meetings and when, with who, and for what outcomes.

We have developed a kick-off session that first leads the team through the process (in cartoon format) and, second, makes them get up out of their chairs to experience it in action on a day-by-day basis.

By breaking up the session this way, we also find this helps widen who asks questions and about what. So as part of the lightning talk, we?re going to get you involved! Some of you will take the role of the team, and we?ll walk through the steps reflecting on the process at the end.

Intended Audience: Agile Coaches and  anyone trying to introduce a change into an organisation

More about the speakers

Todd Brackley: is an agile coach and developer who has spoken at APN and more recently at AgileNZ.  He has a deep understanding of agile principles and practices including Scrum, Kanban and XP while remaining code-focused.  Todd has previously been a tertiary teacher and teacher of teachers in adult education and small-group processes.

Steph Cooper:  As an Agile Coach, Programme/Project Manager, facilitator and BA at Assurity Consulting, Steph works collaboratively with teams to focus on delivering customer value, applying the ?right touch? and navigating the winds of change that affect every project.  She uses visual management techniques to create a common understanding of the project drivers, scope and agreed approach. By using Agile and Lean techniques, Steph turns the focus back to stakeholder engagement by doing just enough to generate business value, delivering quality software and accelerating the feedback loop.
