Hi everyone,

We're pleased to announce the first in our series of Lightning Talks: where we showcase homegrown case studies and learnings from our members. The speakers vary widely in terms of experience and expertise, but under the principles of Agile - I'm sure we'll all enjoy hearing about a variety of perspectives and real life experiences!

Each speaker will have 20 minutes for their presentation. The doors will be open from 5.15pm; however following member feedback we'll be kicking off the presentations slightly later from 5:45pm to allow for that ever important networking opportunity!

Nibbles and drinks will be provided for a $5 donation. Please note this is not a sponsored event.

Guests: Please note that we are required to have nametags for all those attending at the NZI venue. If you wish to being guests, please ensure you provide their first and last name to the event host PRIOR to the evening please to ensure a smooth running of the event -  spare name tags will be in short supply. RSVP will be closed one day prior to the event.

TOPIC ONE: Case study - Looking at User Stories through a Distributed Cognition lens

Introducing APN Member: Karen Chance

What is it that makes user stories successful? If a team places the user stories in a list, there is little to distinguish user stories from conventional requirements. However, it is the use of user stories that makes the difference.

This talk explores recent research into one Agile implementation in Auckland. I?ll identify ways by which a software development team ?distributes? work through members of the team, artefacts, and the physical environment to ease the task of software development.

Intended Audience: Managers, agile teams, BAs

Level of expertise: Beginner: for organisations kicking off with Agile, or for colleagues newly exposed to Agile but also, for those using user stories at the moment and not getting all they could from them.

TOPIC TWO: The CallPlus Agile Story

Introducing APN Member: Bernard O?Leary

Hear about a real life Scrum launch at CallPlus Services Limited that occurred just under a year ago. During that time we found ourselves constantly asking "Wow, here's another tricky problem, surely other organisations have dealt with this sort of thing? I wonder how they managed it?". This was a constant frustration for us; perhaps hearing our story will provide some insights to others starting on the Agile journey.

The talk will expose the nitty-gritty details of a successful real-life Agile implementation, from an inhouse perspective.

Target audience: those considering the introduction Scrum (or some similar form of Agile framework) into their organization.

Level of expertise: Beginner
