If you've ever found yourself digging through the many menus and features of the Visual Studio IDE, and thought…"there must be something simpler" I have good news for you. Visual Studio Code, introduced in 2015 as a preview release, may be just what you’re looking for. Visual Studio Code is a lightweight, fast and easy to install, yet powerful code editor that does a great job of staying out of the way and letting you focus on your code.
It’s not a replacement for the full Visual Studio IDE, but for many workloads, it can provide an easier path than loading up heavyweight projects and solutions. In this session, you’ll get a tour of Visual Studio Code, including features like built-in support for Emmet (formerly Zen Coding) expansions, git integration, extensions, and much more. Come see how this free editor may change how you look at code.
