MAIN TOPIC ABSTRACT Mule ESB - Integration Simplified

This talk introduces a mature open source product called Mule ESB that can greatly simplify your integration projects - especially when you have eCommerce or portal applications that need to talk with several legacy back-end and/or partner services like Google Checkout, PayPal, Amazon, etc. With an elegant, but simple and understandable architecture, Mule can provide an excellent foundation for your next integration project. Not only can it speak all the basic protocols (JMS, HTTP/S, FTP, Email, JDBC, File, etc.) out of the box, but it comes with a rich set of features for web services, message routing, transformation and transaction management. Topics discussed include: messaging patterns, service endpoints, routing, transformation, & protocol bridging. And, yes, you will see some code in action!

MAIN SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY Rich Remington

Rich Remington is President / CTO of Rich Software Inc, a full lifecycle software consulting company specializing in business integration solutions (ESB, SOA, B2B) and web application development using Java and other using open source technologies like Mule ESB, Spring, & Hibernate. Rich's main goal is to promote and enable the appropriate use of open source technologies in businesses of all sizes and to educate developers on how being "a bit lazy" can be a good thing for their employers and/or clients.

BASIC CONCEPTS ABSTRACT Video Editing w/ Blender

While Blender can do some amazing animation and visual masterpieces, many people don't know that it also has a lot of other capabilities related to, but not specific to animation. One of these capabilities is it's video sequence editor (VSE). While Blender's VSE takes a bit of getting used to, it is a very capable tool (one of the most capable open source video editors) for cutting, cropping, moving, fading, compositing and transitioning video together whether a home movie captured from your mini-DV camcorder or a full length feature film in HD. Coupled with a few other open source tools like FFMPEG, Gimp and Inkscape, it's all you really need to edit and render a professional video project together. This is the first of a series of Basic Concepts presentations drilling into the specific features of Blender.

BASIC CONCEPTS SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY Kevin Werner

Kevin Werner is a Senior Creative Specialist (aka web developer) for CodeBaby Corporation in Colorado Springs, CO. He generally sticks to web development for his day job, however, he also does web design and development on the side using a multitude of technologies and open source tools. He is also a fanatic about music and movie production and especially animation. This leads him to do video and audio production work on the side as well using his all FOSS home production studio. While tinkering with Blender for many years, he finally got serious and has been using it in earnest for about two and a half years.
