Introduction to Cloud Computing with Windows Azure

Abstract: The Windows Azure platform offers a flexible, familiar environment for developers to create cloud applications and services. With Windows Azure, you can shorten your time to market and adapt as demand for your service grows.

Windows Azure offers a platform that is easily implemented alongside your current environment.

  • Windows Azure: operating system as a service
  • Microsoft SQL Azure: fully relational database in the cloud
  • Windows Azure platform AppFabric: makes it simpler to connect cloud and on-premises applications

Speaker Bio: Ms. Chance graduated in 1996 with a degree in Computer Science from the University Of Illinois. Beginning a career at Motorola, she focused on mobile I.P. by doing real-time embedded programming for the base radio controller group as part of the iDEN/Nextel project. Since that time, she has held a series of progressively challenging engineering assignments ranging from authoring GPS cell phone applications to POS software. In her spare time, she writes for technology magazines and has been published numerous times. Additionally, she is an accomplished speaker serving as an instructor and presenter at multiple Sybase Techwave conferences.

Specialties: Architecting complex software systems and leading teams to deliver high-quality projects on-time. Some technologies I have used in projects are .NET 2.0/3.5, Windows Mobile 5/6, BlackBerry 4.3, SQL Server, web services, client-server, distributed, wireless networks, data-driven web sites, architecting indoor (Wi-Fi, cell tower, RFID) and outdoor (GPS) navigation systems.
