Job summary

As a core member of our development team, you’ll operate at the leading edge in a fast-paced environment. You’ll employ Agile and Iterative methods as part of a Scrum team, which could see you dedicated to anything from online mapping or mobile support to content acquisition and management, or search development. You’ll employ the latest development technologies, and mentor others in their use.

Whatever you’re working on, we’ll expect you to design, plan, develop, deploy and maintain working software of the highest quality, and to do the same for advertising, content and lead generation products and services on a large scale website. Quick and reliable in the use of Java, XML and web services, you’ll build and deploy for SOA and SAAS based production environments.

What will set you apart is your dedication to achieving true technical excellence, and your background in successful Agile development. An expert in Java / J2EE, XML, XPath, feeds, web services and website architecture, you’ve also got substantial Apache, Tomcat and Linux experience. Expertise with open source libraries and frameworks (such as Spring and Apache), Iterative development methodologies and test driven development are essential too.

Ideally, you’ll have experience of online advertising, search engines and information retrieval, and development using XQuery. Other areas where it would be beneficial to have experience include automated testing of XML-based web services; writing and deploying highly scalable server-side components; J2EE development and deployment specifically in a JBoss context; Selenium / JBehave; Oracle or MySQL in the use of JDBC, Hibernate or a similar persistence framework; familiarity with JSPs, Taglibs, XPath and Ajax, and experience with map APIs / SDKs.

You’re a fast learner and a team player, but you’re equally happy working independently. And your commitment to the timely achievement of tasks and goals means you’re always willing to go the extra mile and find new ways to contribute.
