New preview of SQL 2005

This article was originally published in VSJ, which is now part of Developer Fusion.
Microsoft claims that the second Community Technical Preview for SQL Server 2005 – available to all MSDN and Betaplace subscribers – improves quality and performance, and incorporates the much-anticipated support for 64-bit architectures in Analysis Services and Integration Services to add to the existing support in the database engine.

Also new is the free-download SQL Server 2005 Express Manager, a database management tool built using the .NET Framework 2.0. It can be used to manage local and remote SQL Server 2000, 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE 2000) and 2005 Developer and Express Edition databases.
