Integrated flowcharting

This article was originally published in VSJ, which is now part of Developer Fusion.
Visustin v5 from Aivosto supports both automated and manual flowcharting, and reverse-engineers source code into flowcharts. The user can edit the automated charts and also draw flowcharts manually.

Keeping software documentation updated is possible with Visustin jobs. When the code changes, run a job to automatically update flowchart documents. Visustin jobs allow flowcharting as a part of an application’s build process. Documents will never be out of date as they are built directly from fresh code. By default, Visustin flowcharts show the full source code. Optionally, flowcharts display just the code comments. This shows the original programmer’s intention while hiding the implementation details.

Other new features include support for UML2 Activity Diagrams, mainframe support (EBCDIC) and the creation of multi-page flowchart documents. Visustin v5 reverse-engineers 31 programming languages: Ada, ASP, BASIC, C/C++, C#, Clipper, COBOL, ColdFusion, Fortran, Java, JSP, JavaScript, LotusScript, MASM, MSP430, NASM, Pascal/Delphi, Perl, PHP, PL/SQL, PowerScript, PureBasic, Python, QuickBASIC, REALbasic, T-SQL, VB, VBA, VB.NET, Visual FoxPro and XSLT.
