alpha in exported AVIs

I'm doing titles in flash mx for a video project in adobe premier 6. i'm exporting them from flash as a .avi and that works just fine

however i'm not sure about doing it with transparency and stuff. the titles involve a white strip at the bottom which is about 30% (or is it 70% ) alpha, and then i want all the rest of the top bit to be completely transparent (so 0 or 100% alpha, i;ve forgotten which is total transparency)

    so can i
    (a) specify transparency and alpha in a .avi so that when i put it on the premier timeline it'll show through to the video underneath?
    (b) specify differing amounts of transparency and alpha in an .avi?

the other option would be to chop out the bit of video i want the title on and import it into flash and merge it there, then just have the titled avi in flash, but i dont want to do that, i want the title separate from the picture in premier

    any ideas would be great
