This group is for Southland users (or potential users) of Groovy / Grails technologies. All levels are encouraged to come out and participate in tutorials, discussions, presentations and networking. Groovy is a Java scripting language and ecosystem, and Grails is Java's answer to Ruby on Rails: Groovy-based web applications with scaffolding, object-relational mapping, Groovy server pages and more.

  • Introductory Grails Demo and Tutorial

    This meetup we're going to do a walkthrough of creating a typical Grails application. We'll demonstrate application creation, domain model development, controllers, views and Spring integration. You'll be able to create a complete Java-based web application in under an hour, including scaffolded CRUD (create, update and delete) screens!
