The New York City SharePoint Developers User Group

PLEASE NOTE: Our meetings require that you RSVP for events with your FIRST AND LAST NAME and that you bring ID matching that name to the meeting. Yes, we'd like to keep our meetings all warm and fuzzy and on a first name basis but unfortunately this is a requirement of the office building where the meetings are held. Your RSVP will NOT BE HONORED if you give only your first name or a pseudonym!

The New York SharePoint Developers User Group welcomes anyone interested in developing for the Microsoft SharePoint 2007 or SharePoint 2010 platforms. We will meet the third Wednesday of every month starting March 17, 2010 on the 6th floor of the Microsoft NYC office at 1290 Avenue of the Americas (between 51st and 52nd Streets).

This group is dedicated to finding the best solutions to SharePoint customization and enhancement projects, which means our group is not just about ASP.NET and Visual Studio. Sometimes JQuery, code created with SharePoint specific tools like K2 blackpoint or CorasWorks, or even data views created in SharePoint Designer is the best way to go.

We also emphasize that the most important thing a SharePoint developer needs to know is exactly what is provided Out-of-the-Box (OOTB), so existing functionality is not duplicated. This requires the developer to have a very good working knowledge of the client interface as well as SharePoint administration, the capabilities of InfoPath forms, Excel Services, BDC, etc.

Each month a SharePoint professional will present a technical presentation on some subject concerning SharePoint development. This could be an overview of SharePoint programming concepts, an in-depth look at a SharePoint tool or a walk-through of a particular solution. If you have any ideas for meeting topics, let me know.

So if you're an ASP.NET or web developer that wants to get into the lucrative, dynamic, exciting world of SharePoint development, this is the group for you!

NOTE: Soft drinks, water and sandwiches or pizza are provided at each meeting.
