Do you know about Magento, the world's fastest growing eCommerce technology company with over 100,000 stores worldwide? Their sites range from up and comers, to the world's largest on-line retailers like Salomon Skis, Tool King, The North Face, GolfSmith, Bonobos, Dockers, Ford, Sierra Nevada, BarackObama, Nokia, Harvey Nichols, Fred Perry and more.

Our presenter, Travis Fawcett, has been a freelance developer working in web applications for over 8 years. His soup of choice is the meaty LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) stack. He has over three years of Object Orient PHP development utilizing the Zend Framework. With this solid background in Zend Framework, Travis has easily transitioned into a Magento developer.

Since September of last year, Travis has been developing unique Magento sites that required everything from custom theming to full blown custom module creation and modification.

Travis will focus on a brief history of the development of Magento and why it's gained in popularity. He will then transition into a demo site and highlight key features of the application along with some food for thought before jumping in. Additionally, for those more interested in the theming and coding, Travis will give a brief overview of the file structure, Magento theming, module creation and debugging. Finally he'll wrap up with how to get started with Magento, the must haves along with what you need to know to avoid common install mistakes.
