Share "One Thing"
(with everyone!)
At DevEvening we'll typically have a couple of people present for about an hour or so each on a pair of subjects. This gives us an opportunity to hear a few things about, or get a basic introduction to a couple of topics.
That's not all that happens at DevEvening though. The opportunity to talk to others (over a drink and a meal) also provides the opportunity to hear about many more areas, topics, techniques and ideas.
This month we want to take those smaller conversations and extend them to include everyone. This month everyone shares with everyone. That's right, we want everyone who comes to share one thing with everyone else.
We want this to be easy. So we're doing 3 things:
1. To fit everyone in we're giving everyone just 5 minutes (plus maybe a few more minutes for questions). It's really easy to talk about something for 5 minutes and means you don't have to spend a lot of time planning or preparing.
2. You don't have to create slides or show a code demo if you don't want to. But, if you do want to you can.
3. It can be about, pretty much, anything: a tool, a framework, a language, a library, a design pattern, a clever solution to a problem you've had recently, ... It just needs to be something that is recently new to you.
The expectation is that if it's new to you it'll be new to others also. We're expecting that we'll come away from the evening having heard about a number of new things.
To encourage you to think about this in advance we're asking for you to provide an idea about what you may talk about when you register.
Update!
If you really don't want to share something you don't have to. You're still more than welcome to join us.
If you want an idea about some of the subjects people aare plannign to share about, they include:
WCF, jQuery, Freelancing, backbone.js, async, UDP comms, SQL CLR, Mocking
If you have any questions, please get in touch, otherwise we hope to see you there.
