What happens when a social media guy suddenly finds himself in a retail company? It's not a sitcom or reality show, but it's certainly interesting. This talk will talk about the rapid learning curve of jumping into the real world of retail as the Community and Marketing Coordinator for Simply Computing. Real-life ways to take social media theory to help make happy customers and increased revenue.

In this presentation you will learn:

  • Real challenges of social media for retailers
  • How to deal with good feedback
  • Putting together some of the missing pieces between media and money

Tris Hussey is a best-selling author and Canada's first professional blogger. He has written for some of the largest blogging networks and tech publications as well as for retailers like Future Shop. He has taught social media at BCIT and teaches blogging-related classes through UBC Continuing Studies. He has been a part of several social media startups but has finally settled down as the Community and Marketing Coordinator for Simply Computing.
