Many thanks to Paul Everton who provided an insightful look into his work with Yapmo and creating, managing and nurturing a mobile startup.

In July, join us for Carolyn Chandler's presentation, "From Print to Digital." Carolyn writes:

Designers working in print learn valuable skills in brand presentation, tone, visual hierarchy and layout. But how do these principles apply to digital design? Join us for an overview of interaction design principles and considerations that print designers should understand when moving from static, printed pages, to dynamic and interactive interfaces. You'll leave with an understanding of major differences, common misconceptions, and a list of resources for continued learning in the digital space.

Carolyn Chandler is the experience design director for Manifest Digital, an interactive agency in Chicago. She's currently teaching an intensive web design course for Code Academy, and has taught interaction design at DePaul University. She's managed UX teams for over 12 years.

I met Carolyn at Code Academy's student demo evening and was impressed by the attention and focus she is bringing to the world of user experience, a discipline that designers and developers find front and center in the digital world.

A word about our location... I've mentioned the possibility of moving our meetup to a place that offers more options for food, particularly because so many of us must come directly from work to the meetup (without dinner). BooCoo's owner is not focused on restoring the kitchen at this time, but the manager, Alisha was kind enough last month to purchase food for a limited menu for our group. We'll continue to meet at BooCoo for now. If you have other thoughts, feel free to share them!

Stay cool...
