Here is a summary of the approach David is proposing for this meetup
1. David will deliver a talk. (Duration about 10-15 minutes.)
2. Ask everybody to list any points they derived from the talk (5 minutes).
3. David will have a list of the key points that he has covered.
4. Compare the two lists and see what emerges.
The 2 points that David hopes to make:
1. Cynefin divides problems into simple, complicated, complex and chaotic - and provides an approach for each of these problem domains.
The conventional approach to the Theory of Constraints is to look for "the" constraint in a system and address it. However looking at the Theory of Constraints through the prism of Cynefin suggests that identifying "the" constraint would only work for simple or complicated systems. When dealing with complex systems we need a different and more experimental approach to addressing constraints.
2. Software development is not a physical process, it happens in people's heads - so looking only at processes for constraints is probably ignoring the biggest source of constraints.
