For our August meeting, Aaron Torgerson will present on building HTTP-friendly web apps in C# with Nancy. Nancy is a lightweight, low-ceremony, framework for building HTTP based services on .NET and Mono. Nancy is an open source web framework for .NET that uses the Ruby Framework "Sinatra" as its inspiration. (Get it? Frank Sinatra's daughter is Nancy Sinatra.)
Speaker Bio: Aaron Torgerson is a Lead Software Developer at The Motley Fool in Alexandria, VA. A University of Maryland alum, Aaron has a background in Computer Science and Music. For the first couple of years after college, Aaron worked as a consultant at RDA, Inc. in Reston, VA, building software for private sector clients including Microsoft and Costar. Looking for a change of pace, in 2006, Aaron accepted an offer from The Motley Fool for a software developer position, and has been happily hacking ever since. An avid devotee of Test-Driven Development, Aaron is committed to maximizing The Fool's return on its investment through teaching and practicing sustainable software development approaches. Aaron currently lives in Annandale, VA, with his wife and three sons. In his free time, Aaron works on his fixer-upper house and various programming side projects. Aaron's current side project, HyperMap (C#), maps model classes to REST resource representations with hypermedia links.
