IMPORTANT SCHEDULING NOTE: There must be at least one ECFPHP Meetup Member with the "Mentor" designation RSVP'd "Yes", and there must be at least one additional ECFPHP Meetup Member RSVP'd "Yes" forty-eight hours (Monday night) prior to the Meetup, or the Meetup will be canceled due to lack of participation.
I am asking the Mentor volunteers to indicate the duration of time they will be at the Meetup, if they cannot commit to the entire 6PM - 9PM.
Having said that, there are two main reasons to come to this Meetup.
1) Those members who wish to become functional PHP programmers should consider these Meetups a prime opportunity to seek out help from those in the group that can act as Mentors. Members that wish to seek out a PHP Mentor's assistance need to come prepared. A suggested way to do this, is to start working through the online tutorials that were presented by Ryan Paiva at the 4/22 inaugural Meetup. When you get stuck, these M & PE Meetups are perfect for clearing the hurdles you may encounter during self-studies.
ECFPHP Mentors are NOT at this Meetup to spoon feed. Come prepared with specific questions other than "how do you code in PHP". The online tutorials start with HTML as a foundation for integration with PHP, and the PHP tutorials have a logical progression. Don't jump in to the tutorials in the middle, and expect to be shown the foundation that you skipped!
2) Those members that are intermediate to advanced in their PHP and related development skills should know that there will always be a PHP peer (at some level) present, to assist those seeking help. These M & PE Meetups are a good opportunity for all sorts of group interaction amongst the veteran PHP programmers in our Meetup group.
