Today's businesses are under ever-increasing pressure to deliver more value for less effort. The speed of adaptation of business applications to changing needs has become a bottleneck for successful business growth in a number of sectors. CEO's are finding that they can develop a new product line faster than their DBAs can develop a new application to manage it. This has created a need for Dynamic Business Applications - applications that can adapt quickly to new business situations. In this talk, Dean Allemang will describe how the Semantic Web technologies of the W3C, along with the TopBraid Suite development platform, provide a powerful capability to design, build and deploy dynamic business applications. The presentation will include a description of how these technologies enable dynamic business applications, as well as a demonstration of the capability as applied to enterprise vocabulary management.

Dean Allemang, Chief Scientist at TopQuadrant, specializes in innovative applications of knowledge technology and brings over 15 years of experience in research, deployment, and development of knowledge-based systems. He developed the curriculum for Top Quadrant's successful training series for Semantic Web technologies, which he has been presenting to customers world-wide for several years. Dean has completed a master's degree at the University of Cambridge as a Marshall scholar, a PhD at the Ohio State University as a National Science Foundation Graduate Scholar, and is a two-time winner of the Swiss Prize for Innovation in Technology. Along with Prof. Jim Hendler, Dean is co-author of the successful Semantic Web for the Working Ontologist (Morgan-Kaufmann, 2008), already in second printing and translated into Korean.
