Widgets are an important part of any website. They allow you to add search bars, recent posts and category lists, advertising, information from other websites and all sorts of fun stuff... all without touching any theme code.

This month's Meetup is going to cover using the WordPress widget system to add all this and more to your website. We'll go over:
• How to make your theme "widget ready" if it's not. (WordPress.org only)
• How to add more widget areas to your theme. (WordPress.org only)
• Use the default Widgets that come with all WordPress installs.
• Learn why the TEXT widget is the most powerful widget in the universe!
• Add content from another website's rss feed to your blog.
• Allow users to subscribe to your rss feed or receive an email everytime you create a post (or both).
• Easily add advertising to your website and make some money (WordPress.org only)
•
And much more!!

IMPORTANT NOTES:
• This will be the last WordPressNYC Meetup in 2009. In November, WordCamp is coming to NYC, and of course December is the Holidays. If I don't see you at this Meetup, I look forward to seeing you in January.
• Just a reminder that one of our sponsors, StudioPress is providing WordPressNYC Meetup Members a 25% discount on any StudioPress Theme. Just click this link and enter discount code: NYC25 to receive your discount.
