Many thanks to Tyler Hunt (a Known Rubyist but Okay Guy) for his presentation on GIT (and the ensuing discussion on source control) and Caike Souza gave us a great introduction to the (brand new) Orlando Code Dojo! Their first meeting was the week after our last, and I'll tell you all about it this month, because...
Because I really support this crazy idea, this month, we'll have our own in-house coding dojo at Orlando PHP. Right on the heels of our talk last month, we'll be using GIT and Github to track our group progress. I've forked the code from the Orlando Code Dojo's first event into our own (brand spanking new) OrlandoPHP Github account. The project for this month will be identical: replicating the classic "Code Breaker" game using TDD with PHPUnit. We'll use the Randori Kata technique, where everyone who wants to participate gets a swing at pair programming. Should be fun.
To take advantage of the giant TV, we'll be meeting at the clubhouse at Camden apartments in downtown Orlando courtesy of Demetrius Ford, our resident resident and official "Location Coordinator" (I couldn't come up with anything better, I'm sorry). The address is:
688 N Orange Ave
Orlando, FL 32801

You can park in the parking lot in front of the complex and in the adjacent lot, just not in the garage. The clubhouse is inside the main complex, secured by a maglock, and it's super sweet. We'll try to leave someone outside to lead people in, but try to come earlier rather than later. If you get locked out, just ping one of us by cell phone or Twitter; I'll try to keep an eye on ye ole @orlandophp account.
Looking forward to another great meeting this month,
David @ OrlandoPHP.org
