Tom Shaker
Director, Producer, Edutainer, Writer, Song and Dance Man
Tom was born Thomas James Shaker on August 13, 1952 to Mary Katherine Christopher Shaker (daughter of Italian immigrants) and Mitchell Francis Shaker (son of Lebanese immigrants) in the town of Niles, Ohio. He is the fifth of eight children. He scored the lead role in his kindergarten play "Frosty the Snowman" and never looked back. New York had always been beckoning. In 1991, Tom moved to NYC and spent another decade in countless film, television, theatre and edu-tainment projects. Productions included Law and Order, Ransom, 15 Minutes, Die Hard III and a critically acclaimed showcase of his original musical “Birdsville”, adapted from the Aristophanes farce and staged on 42nd Street. In 2000, Tom travelled to Rome, Italy in search of his Italian heritage. A two-week vacation turned into a change of continents and he is now a dual citizen commuting between The Eternal City and The Big Apple. His Rome credits include The Passion of the Christ (Mel Gibson), HBO Rome and countless concert and recording projects with his band, Tom and His Cats.

Top Ten Entreprenurial (EFactor) Tips from Tom

1.
Do what you want to do. Don't do what you have to do so you can do what you want to do.
2.
Travel light. Do you really need 3 cars and 4 houses and 25 suits? Stuff steals focus. And greed is not good.
3.
Dare to dream. E people are the ones who introduce new products and concepts.
4.
Be positive. You get more bees with honey than you do with vinegar.
5.
Connect. Become fluent with cyber-social, political and business networks.
6.
Disconnect. Do you have to carry an electronic appendage everywhere. Turn it off once in a while. You'll live.
7.
Focus-connect. Be precise and organized online. Mixing messages between your love-interest and plumber is not a good idea.
8.
Less is more. Do what you promise. Say what you mean. Mean what you say.
9.
Be on time and under budget.
10.
Good business-everybody wins. Make money for your partners. Solve the problems of your clients. Share profits with your colleagues.

La Médina du Marais

Traditional eastern cosiness characterises La Medina du Marais, a rather romantic North African restaurant on Rue des Gravilliers between Etienne Marcel and Arts et Metiers Metro stations in the hip Marais area of central Paris. Wood beam ceiling, stone walls filled with oriental objects, candles on each table – it’s a seductive, laidback scene. La Medina du Marais’ menu is built around classic, earthy Moroccan dishes like fresh lamb cous cous and rich, tasty tagines, matched with decent Algerian and Moroccan wines. Steak with béarnaise sauce, and confit de canard feature among a handful of French staples. Finish with a fresh mint tea and the dessert of the day.
