Hello Geo-geeks,

This is one presentation I am really excited about (if you knew exactly what Ben has in mind - you would be too!). Trust me, you don't want to miss this.

Ben will present the current state of the art in open-source visualization of realistic scenes from geospatial data, using the VTP software and other open-source tools, describe both the limitations and exciting possibilities with current software. There will be a live demo of the 3D geodata processing pipeline leading to interactive visualization.

About Ben:

Ben Discoe is a software developer, veteran of the virtual reality industry and a pioneer in the field of realtime terrain rendering. He is the benevolent dictator of the open-source Virtual Terrain Project, which for 12 years has pursued the creation of tools for easily constructing any part of the real world in interactive, 3D digital
form, aiming for a synergetic convergence of the fields of CAD, GIS, visual simulation, surveying and remote sensing. His day job involves rendering multi-terabyte laser point clouds for 510 Systems in Berkeley, CA.

Space is limited (feel free to add yourself to the waiting list when filled).
