Refactor with Developer Express

This article was originally published in VSJ, which is now part of Developer Fusion.
Developer Express has released Refactor! Pro 2.5, which includes refactorings for Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2 (Orcas), and targets the latest features, such as lambda expressions, implicit types, auto-implemented properties and XML literals, enabling developers to experiment and pick up the latest syntax by converting familiar anonymous methods. Among the refactorings aimed specifically at C# 3.0 and VB 9 are: Compress to Lambda Expression, Convert to Auto-implemented Property, Create Backing Store, Make Explicit, Make Explicit (and Name Anonymous Type), Make Implicit and Name Anonymous Type.

Other new refactorings that work in all versions of Visual Studio .NET include: Extract String to Resource, Inline Constant, Introduce Alias, Introduce Alias (replace all), Widen Scope (promote constant), and Widen Scope (promote to field).
